Can MMW play gapless to a DLNA player (push from MMW to network)?

Gapless play possible through DLNA?

Playback effects like Gapless are up to the Player (client). The server streams files.

Re: Gapless play possible through DLNA?
What I mean is the following:
I am using a DLNA player in my network (OpenElec).
In MMW I chose OpenElec as the player.
No gapless play.
The same happen between two MMWs.
Therefore I think that MMW is the culprit, not OpenElec.
My plan is to have MMW as a central player and use several DLNA player in my home, for each room one.
This way I can chose the DLNA player where I want to have the music played.
But without gapless play this is only half the fun.
Thanks,
Christian

I don't know if MediaMonkey can do this as player for DLNA files. Is Gapless enabled in the playing MediaMonkey?

Re: Gapless play possible through DLNA?
Hi,
Yes, gapless is activated.
I just tested this:
I read that the software has to provide the playlist to the DLNA player, which makes sense, because it has to know what comes next. This seems to be not the case in MMW.
How can I request this feature?
Thanks,
Christian

I just tested this:
- Raspberyy Pi with MPD und UPMPDCLI as DNLA player
- MMW play to Raspberry Pi --> no gapless
- Foobar2000 play to Raspberry Pi --> gapless

Re: Gapless play possible through DLNA?
Reviving this old thread because I'm not finding gapless play when using MMW gold playing from my DLNA server on my LAN. To boot, the DLNA server is another computer running MMW's DLNA server. So it's MMW DLNA server, and a MM client.
It would be really nice to have gapless playing of albums where the tracks fade into one another. Does this not exist in 2019? My CD player can do it.
Not trolling here. Just surprised I can't get it to work when I was expecting software in 2019 to be mature enough that gapless playback would not be an issue. I did a little research and found out that DLNA spec does support gapless playback, but not under all circumstances. Couldn't get more detail on this, as the DLNA spec isn't even publicly published, apparently.
To recap, in this case my MM server is only serving audio files, not 'rendering' an audio stream. My MM client PC is the one playing back the album. I did set the playback prefs to have gapless, and I know I did it right, since the same settings work fine on the server PC when I use MMW to play the album locally. It just doesn't work when going through the DLNA server. Bummer.
Has anyone figured this out?
