I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tag 3 with Android version 4.2.2. I copied all the MP3s I wanted on the tablet onto a MicroSD card, then stuck the card in the tablet. I installed MMA on the tablet and after a couple hours it finished scanning all the songs into the library and everything was fine. I have since added a few dozen more songs by using a file manager to copy them from my network drive to the MicroSD card. I haven't set up the syncing system because I don't want all of the songs from my PC on the tablet, just some of them.
My problem is that I cannot get MMA to scan the new tracks into it's library. If I use the Music Player app that came pre-installed on the tablet, it sees the new albums. If I use the Folders button and navigate my way to the appropriate folder, it shows all the tracks in there. But when I look by Artist it doesn't show the newly added tracks. If I go into Options, there is a button labeled Check for new/changed media. If I press it, it lights up and I'll get a message for just a second that says Scanning Started, but it doesn't do anything. What am I missing?

Sync syncs what you select to sync, it only syncs all if you select all to be synced.RandyJW wrote:I haven't set up the syncing system because I don't want all of the songs from my PC on the tablet, just some of them.
Did you check under Choose Library Folders that the folder for the new files is checked?

Re: MMA not seeing newly added tracks
The problem could be that the tags aren't or are picked up wrong. MMA relies on Android Media when you're not directly syncing MMW to MMA.
You could send a debug log (from About screen) right after scanning finishes.

Re: MMA not seeing newly added tracks
I've just figured something else out. If I do a search for one of the newly added tracks by the track title, it does show up. But it says Unknown artist and the embedded album art doesn't display. When I use the Music Player app, all the data and the art is there and I can find it by the artist. Is there a way to tell MMA to rescan or rebuild the library?Lowlander wrote:The problem could be that the tags aren't or are picked up wrong. Re: MMA not seeing newly added tracks
Rescan is the method you're already using. As said the problem may lie with Android Media not being able to pick up the tags. I suggest doing a sync from MMW so it updates your MMA database with all the relevant data.

Re: MMA not seeing newly added tracks
I've done that, it didn't fix it. I figured maybe if I shut down the tablet and removed the MicroSD card, then booted up again MMA would notice that all the songs are gone and zero out the database. Nope, it still thinks they are all there. I went into the tablet's Application Manager and selected MediaMonkey and MediaMonkey Pro and pressed the buttons for Clear Data and Clear Cache. No difference. I figured I would uninstall them, reboot, and reinstall MediaMonkey. This is still without the MicroSD card being plugged in. I load MMA, press Genre hoping it would show there is nothing there, and it still shows lots of genres, albums, and tracks. The album art is not showing.Lowlander wrote:Rescan is the method you're already using. As said the problem may lie with Android Media not being able to pick up the tags. Re: MMA not seeing newly added tracks
I finally got it fixed. As I mentioned before, I shut off the tablet and removed the card and MMA still showed all these songs in the library. I went into the Music Player app and that did show no songs. So then I shut down the tablet again and put the card back in. I loaded Music Player and it automatically started reading everything in again. After that finished I went into MMA and then it said there were no songs, but it started reading them in again. This is very curious that nobody else has had this problem. The MicroSD card I am using is 64GB. Perhaps everyone else is using a smaller capacity card and MMA hasn't been thoroughly tested when using an external 64GB card? Beats me. But I guess in the future when I want to update tracks, I'll do it by popping the card out and copying to it with a USB card reader.
Re: MMA not seeing newly added tracks
I only wifi sync to the SD card (64gb) in the device. This gets MMA directly updated by MMW as well as Play History syncing.
