What's The Best Quality Video Codec...

Post by SonicNova »

For converting my .FLV files. What's the best quality codec to use that's eitehr lossless or least lossy for converting my file. MM won't allow mw to add meadata to my .flv files so i need to convert them to another format. Thanks all.

For starters you would be limited to only a few formats that MediaMonkey supports writing tags to: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... erties/4.0

Then I would consider the compatibility of the format with desktop players, portable devices and DLNA devices in your choice of format.

Don't know what's "best", but I only use x264 these days. However, you might want to check what's actually in those .flv files first. It could be all you need to do mux them into mp4 (I think probably best for tagging with MM4?) I've found Avidemux 2.6 works well on Windows, at least if the streams in the .flv are AVC video and AAC audio which seems to be the case many times. If it's the Sorenson Spark or VP6 codec not so easy.
