Win7 is more stable and has a few more visual enhancements.

As far as I know, Vista is not included in new PCs anymore.
If it does, it means it a pre-Win7 production, eligible for a free Win7 update.

I'm still not sure whether I should switch to 7 or not. Is it really that much better or is Vista enough if I don't do super sophisticated stuff with it?

If nothing else, Win7 is ALOT more stable than Vista, but if you are not experiencing the crashes of Vista you can always wait.

Without a doubt Windows 7. Windows 7 is pretty faster than vista. It also support a most exciting feature Windows XP mode to run Programs which doesn't worked in vista. In fact vista was not much user friendly according to me. In fact I felt XP was better than Vista.

this is a no brainer here.

why?

simple statement from the exec's at Microsoft. is the answer.

that statment was in simular words to this.

We are discontuning windows vista development and releasing windows 7 earlier then we wanted, for the reason that
vista has too many bugs in it and we are unable to fix it.

when you know that you should also realize vista was a mistake as they for got to take the screen off the window and clean the bugs out of it before they let every one look out the window.

:(

i'm sorry for those that bought it and were misled by sales men when they bought the computer.
i remember lockergnome saying when the vista beta came out that he could not even get it installed.
and when they released the final version he tried 7 + times to install it and could not get it installed
he had to have help from Ms. to install it, now if lockergnome can not install something then it is a peice of junk.

Win 3.11 -> Win 97 (Win 95 OSR2) -> Win 98 SE -> XP -> Win 7 -> ...
