What is the cheapest way to fix a modem

Post by eleanori »

What is the cheapest way to fix a modem? My Presario is 2 yrs old, and last week after a thunderstorm, the modem just quit working so that I can not connect to internet. I have dial up, and cannot get high speed in my area.

You mean Rockwell.

Eleanori, if your PC has a serial port, I think you'd be better with an external modem. Best brand I know is USRobotics v.92: http://www.usr.com/products/modem/p-56k ... _content_2

yep us robotics is good too but the one i have was hard to get the drivers to install for it, course that could have been cause i had to download them from online with a different computer and transfer them by cdrom to the other computer. lots of messing around when you don't get any drivers in the box.

of course there are now those thumb drive modems for 3 and 4 g networks you can get and put in the usb slot.
that can be dangerous though. i tried a 3g one for the dell and thats what hosed all my usb controlers on the dell. of course the dell was 2002 build and the 3 g modem was 2009 model so the drivers might work on newer computers. oh the only 4g network is at sprint, you might get that one its got new thumb modems coming this yr if not already out.

yes eyal that was a typo. more likely cause rockwall texas is just around the corner. the name is faster to type then the well one.
