[BUG V3.1.1224] Scrambling thumbnails on iPod [NOTREP]

Post by Michael Vogel »

Some months ago, I've posted a problem about problems with the covert art of video files: Link

I'm not sure, if the developer know, that this problem is still present?!

Some mp4 videos have been copied onto the iPod already a year ago using iTunes. The "covers" which are seen on the iPod seems to be taken from the first picture from the movie itself.

As soon I use the MediaMonkey on my iPod (classic) the following happens: the cover art of all music files are as wanted :D but the cover art of the mp4 video files will be "overwritten" by wrong (music!) covers.

If I use the MediaMonkeys function to reorganize the database all video covers get mixed up and can only be restored using the iTunes (disabling and then reenabling cover art) which takes quite a long time...

Title of the thread has been updated to "...1224..." because the bug is still present.

This bug is present on the iPhone 3G as well and is VERY annoying!
I'd love to use MM for my video podcasts too, but it doesn't support them at the moment so I have to use iTunes for that part.
Please fix it!!!
Thanks!

I'll just confirm this problem as well on my iPhones. It's been happening to me since the first release of iPhone support.
Here's what i'm doing:

1. I delete all music form iphone (even tried to wipe media partition manually, to remove all leftovers from iTunes - folders etc are recreated on reboot)
2. In iTunes i unchecked automatically sync, check manual ..
3. I start transfering albums using MM.
4. I never open itunes again.
5. After a couple of syncs with MM, album art will get corrupted.

Right now, it think it even deleted lots of songs. And it's not possible to send any more songs to it. It just gets stuck.

In other words, the iPhone support is and have always been useless for me, since these problems just kept on happening. Both on my 2G and 3G device.

I have to comment here as well--I use my iPhone regularly and haven't had this problem since build 1223. Perhaps it's related to the type of sync operation you do?

Can you elaborate:
-Auto-sync or manual sync?
-Is auto-conversion being used?
-What is the simplest case that can trigger the bug?

Thanks.

This happens with 3.1.0.1227, attempting to sync to an iPod Touch running the 2.2.1 firmware. I turn sound check off, revert the iPod to factory settings and do a clean, manual sync with MP3s with embedded album art. They are always corrupted on the first try.

Those of you who see this problem -- Do you use auto-conversion?

No. My entire library is in MP3 format.
