How do I combine a player skin with a theme from another ski

Post by windcrest77 »

Hello,

DreadM created a player skin called Emulator DJ. I would like to use this player but grab a different skins theme for all the rest of MM. DreadM quoted that I can do this (quote below) but I dont have a clue of how to go about it:

"player comes with the neutral Glided theme, but player can be bundled with any skin / theme you like,
just copy Player.mskn and player.ini into the skin you prefer ."

I want to try out this Emulator DJ player with the theme from three other skins:

1) Songbird (Gonzo)Skin By DreadM
2) Skin Noir Gray By DreadM
3) Vitreous Dark By Stephen Platt

To see which way I like better, but in all cases I want the player to be Emulator DJ because its nice and BIG has BIG controls and BIG click targets, and that's what I like to use big distinct easy-to-see click targets for the player.

Can I somehow select the player skin independently from the MM theme in MM? All I see on the options page is a list of skins that I just choose from, the player and theme are not separated. I see that I can override the theme from Windows but that takes Emulator DJ away from me too. Do need to learn how to create skins to have independent control of the player and the theme? Can I easily use DreadM's Emulator DJ player with the theme of any other skin I may find that goes well with it? How do I do that, instruction-wise?

Specifically how do I do this: "just copy Player.mskn and player.ini into the skin you prefer"

Take the skin file "Skinnname.msz". Change the file extension from .msz to .zip, so it's "Skinname.zip". Unzip the folder. Then you can see the files that DreadM is talking about. You can leave the skin as just the whole folder without re-zipping and re-naming the extension and MM will pick up on it if you want to preview any changes you make. But in order to refresh you'll have to change to another skin, then back.

Thanks, it worked.
