Jukebox skin out there?

Post by nmacej »

I'm wishing for a Jukebox like skin for the monkey... you know, like the digital ones in bars... I figure with the album art being so incorporated now that it would be a really cool/smooth action skin. Just a thought... Anyone seen anything like that around?

you need some more info for us to know what your talking about.

but i got an idea, and the smooth album images you see are coded in to mm 4 there is also the script that is old now called monkey flow. look around at the skins download page to see what you can find for mm 3 so you can tell us more of what you want.

I'm not sure what all the technical jargon is for these types of things, so it's hard for me to describe. I didn't see any current skins like it... I'm basically looking for a skin that would allow you to scroll through album art by artist or album view in like a 4x4 grid layout or something with just the album art, the artist in large font and the album name smaller (or vice versa depending on the preference selected). When you get to one you like, click it, the image flips over to reveal the tracks (much like an ipod does), where you can then select the desired track to insert into the Que. the panels would be something like either side having the search options ie. artist, album, web (search youtube, google, ect.. in case what you're looking for isn't in the library) and the already helpful search box. The center would have the album art you're searching through with a slider to one side #-z for faster scrolling. and the 3rd panel would show the now playing list. Maybe even a cool little screensaver type deal too that would kick on after the desired time to show just the now playing art art, artist, album and track info? Something like this would make a GREAT usable interface for parties where most guests aren't familiar with the monkey.

monkey flow script is only one that will flow the album covers when they are played. the one in mm 4 does not do that it might after it is released as stable but i doubt it .

no fliping of art to show title of tracks.

you can view album covers in the list view area by going to the toolbar and picking the different views to show

either all covers in playlist selected with album name under it or album covers with tracks listed to the side of the cover
in one long list.

the screensaver you got is milkdrop it can allow you to edit it and add in your own code or code it has to show artist and album names but it does not work like a screen saver it is the av plug in that you have to start by clicking on the link to it on the tool bar. :) coming from itunes.... ? forget how itunes does things and learn how monkey does what you want which it most like already does, just run through the options for monkey and see what is what.

Seems you want some kind of "media center" type of layout.

Unfortunately that's not possible in Mediamonkey.

I think the closest you can get is to use the monkey flow add-on

I think the Vision skin by DreadM for example should look good with it.

Then you can experiment a bit with hiding some toolbar items and panels.
You can hide these elements by unchecking them in the "View" menu

Thanks for the info Guys. And just for the record... no itunes here.. Never even owned an ipod haha I'm anti-i! I just used that as an example seeing as most of the world does. I'll give the flow a try and mess around a bit.
