Suggestion for change in German localization

Post by Tankred »

In MM's German localization, the following translation is quite capable of being misunderstood:

+ Extras
- ...
- Lautstärke analysieren
- Lautstärke anpassen
- ...

This just means "analyse volume" and "adjust volume". So one might think, that the these are two related steps, but as I understand it, this is false. Compared to the English original description, "Lautstärke analysieren" is okay but "Lautstärke anpassen" should be renamed to something like "Lautstärke der Dateien ändern". As the latter changes files permanently, this should be distinguished from the first, as this option does not alter files but only tags and database information.

If, then it should be changed in every Localization, even in the English one.
I thinks it describes very well what it does.

You don't understand. The English menue entries of these options are correct but the German translations do not correspond with these!

I understood

Lautstärke anpassen = Adjust Volume
Lautstärke der Dateien ändern = Change Volume of File

No, not yet. ;)

In the English version, the description of these options is currently:
- Analyze volume
- Level track volume

The German version does not correspond with the English version:
- Lautstärke analysieren
- Lautstärke anpassen

"Level track volume" is not "Lautstärke anpassen"! So it's translated falsely!

Ahh, now I see.

IMHO a Translation can't always be a word to word translation.
I think it's OK how it is, but feel free to find another cool-sounding translation!

No, you don't see it...

"Level track volume" means to level the volume of a track permanently. The false German translation "Lautstärke anpassen" does not correspond with the meaning of the English description!!! (<---)

So you can translate "nuclear power plant" with "Banane" (which may sound coo) but it has another meaning!!!

And the different meaning is the reason, why I suggest a new translation!!!

more logical for me would also be to change "dateien automatisch einordnen" to "auto-taggen ZU dateiname".
when i first tried mm i searched some minutes to find this..

Just for a sec in german:
Direkt der 1. Dialog nach der Installation lautete "Möchtest DU die Datenbank von MM2,5 importieren?". Danach wird aber wieder gesiezt: "Bitte warten SIE, bis die Daten importiert werden..." (sinngemäß)
Könnte man auch noch ändern

Andere Vorschläge:
Lautstärke anwenden, Lautstärke übernehmen.
