Hullo!
I'm head over feet into Poedit right now, and got some questions to ask:
1) The localizations_instructions.txt says that quotation marks must be written as slash quotation mark, but in the existing .po-files its always _back_slash quotation mark - so I assume the latter is right, yes?
2) Can strings like <Ctrl><A> be translated, too ("Ctrl" = "Strg" in German)? They are not variables of any sort, are they?
3) Is there a sort of "masking" for the ampersand "&" - it would be handy to use as a normal character sometimes, but since it is used for alt-key-specification, I didn't so far.
4) I found several strings, of which I'm not sure if they're buggy, e.g. in tips.po: "You can make your computer automatically turn off using the Sleep function ("Tools|Sleep") so that you can go to bed while listening to your favorite music." The Sleep function is contained in the "File" menu, but maybe it won't be in MM2.2, so the string is correct?
5) Do I have to translate the string-"comments" contained in the .po-file too? I guess not, but I'm not sure, so I ask...
Cheers, Zyb
Localization Questions (technical and content related)
2. you can change "ctrl"->"strg" they are only text representations of shortcuts.
3. In most cases Double Ampersand mean that string contains"&" and it is not a shortcut, but I'm not 100% shure only 99.99%

1) Yes, the way they are used in .po files is correct.
2) I'll see if the strings can be added to the localization.
3) In strings that aren't used as menu items you can use '&' normally. If you want to show it as a menu item, use '&&'.
4) We are interested in such problems, you can post the list of strings you think are wrong here, or possibly better send them to Rusty by e-mail.
5) No, of course, you don't have to translate them, they are just automatically generated there in order to show all the places where each of strings is used.
Thanks for the feedback,
Jiri

Missings strings for a complete localization?
Hi,
Seems to me that the default values proposed for the classification properties are not localizable:
- Tempo ("Very slow" ... "Very fast")
- Mood ("Wild" ... "Comatose")
- Occasion ("Background" ... "Seasonal")
- Quality ("Excellent copy" ... "Poor copy")
Well, it's not so important, but this would be fine for a complete translation.
Perhaps in the next strings version??
I am also missing some other strings that cannot be translated (?):
- "Accessible Tracks" (playlist node)
- "Last 50 played" (ditto)
- "Favorites - xxxx" (ditto)
- "Undo" (contextual menu of an edited filename)
A last and particular case is
- "Custom 1 - 2 - 3" (track properties)
... although the strings are in the default.po file!
See you.
