I have been using MM for months, add tag art through MM, and it displays in windows folders outside of MM just fine. Today, I go into my music & video windows folder... and all the file pictures are gone. As in: all the tag art (created through MM) is removed.

If I open MM, everything looks unchanged. What happened? When I add a picture under right click>edit artwork properties>add artwork...... where are these saved? In-other words, if I uninstall MM, tag art will disappear, right?

In any case, I have changed nothing, MM looks and behaves as it has for months, but folders in windows that once had files with MM added pictures nolonger have these pictures. I put so much time and work into adding tag art by hand and its gone! Any way to get it back working like before? HELP!!!!

Sounds like Explorer may be failing to display them. What File Type(s) are affected?

MediaMonkey stores them either in the music file or as an Artwork file depending on your settings. Hover your mouse over the Artwork in Properties > Artwork to see where the file is stored (tooltip will show).

File type effected: mp4

There may be an MKV thpe here and there not working... but they never have, not worried about them. Im focused on the 500 some mp4's atm.

Hovering over properties>artwork>image and it says "stored in tag".

Everything within MM is fine, its when I exit and go into the windows folder; thats where things have changed. Only thing I remember doing around the sorta time this was noticed was I did a system backup; backup of entire drive onto another drive. Not sure if that means anything. But It was a hdd that holds media only backed up onto a blank hdd. Neither hdd has the main OS crap on it. Thats all I can add

As MediaMonkey still shows in file stored Artwork it is actually stored in the file. Something with Windows updates may have changed the capability to read Artwork from tag for MP4 files.

Ok well thats good news, I guess Ill dig around some more. Thankyou for leading me in some direction. Ive been lost for the past week
