MediaMonkey 4.1.12.1795 RC - COM Elevator

Post by Buruan »

Ever since I installed this RC, i am getting the COM Elevator messages again every time I start MMW, and there doesnt seem to be an option to disable the checking for file associations.
Is this something new, or am I missing something here?

What can I do to avoid this?

What AV and System Optimizer apps you have. This usually happen when we do rapid development and MMW is quickly updated so some apps revert changes made by MMW to default ones.

Have you tried to start MMW as Administrator?

I have found sometimes after a restart, all these error boxes appear; offering to 'Ignore' or 'retry' or 'cancel'. My workaround has been to then use Windows Task Manager to view and end task to all MM running services. Then, MM can be restarted and no error boxes appear. Maybe there's a permanent solution that I haven't found; this works for me.

Hi, the elevator might be related to fix of the issue http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view. ... 261#c44569

- Did you accept the elevate prompt or not?
- Is 'MediaMonkey auto-conf NUMBER' rule presented in Windows Firewall > Allowed programs ?
- Could you please generate debug log (item 4b here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=6&t=341 )

Hello,

to answer Peke first - When I run as Administrator I dont get the prompt at all.

To answer your questions :
1. I have tried accepting and not accepting, same results.
2. Yes its in there 14 times.
3. Will work on that and come back.

Certainly seems related to the Firewall issue described above.
When I switch off "Media Sharing" it doesn't prompt me for the COM elevator.

Thanks, I re-opened http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view. ... 261#c44746 to narrow this down.

The elevator fails to set up the rules for some reason on your machine.
The debug log would be useful.
