Cache of remote content when streaming

Post by gamb2009 »

When trying to play 24bits 192000Hz files from a remote hard drive, from internet, I get a lot Intermittances and noise. Maybe, to much data to be send remotely. That "Maximum cache size", would it improve the performance if the value is rised? What is that control for? Is there a way of creating a kind of read buffer, in order to gather data in advance, before it is played?

Thanks

Hi,
Can you please describe in step by step how you access the file remotely (VPN -> LAN, WAN -> LAN Tunnelling, WEBDav, ...)?
Best regards,

The access to the file is through a VPN tunnel:
1) A wifi connection to my AudioCast device, used as bridge and wifi receptor/DAC/ and link to my home LAN
2) A VPN connection to a hard drive attached to my office server.
3) I mapped that drive to a letter (U:/) to include the files into my MM dB.

All works perfectly with 16 bit depth files. Even with 24bit 96kHz files. Those large 192kHz are the challenge.
Of course, the problem should be mostly due to a non-cappable internet speed, but... maybe there is a configuration improvement from the side of MM5 that could be done?
