Custom Field Headings are not transferred vom MM4 to MM5 [#15553]

Post by Snofru »

I have given some Custom Fields in MM4 some other names to simplify my tagging. Unfortunately these Custom Fields Headings are not transferred to MM5 while the content of these fields is transferred correctly to MM5.

I cannot replicate, the custom headings are transferred in my case.
They are stored under [CustomFields] section in MediaMonkey.ini file and the file is transferred alson with MM.DB from MM4 to MM5

I tested this way:
- standard install of MM4 with 'Custom 1' field set to 'My Custom 1'
- installed MM5 portable and accepted the prompt to copy settings and database from MM4
- the 'My Custom 1' heading was transferred: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dwwrc3vq5gid6 ... 1.png?dl=0

BUT, in my case the database was empty! My MM4 database has thousands of track, but the MM5 is empty with no tracks!!
=> will be fixed in 2167

Could you check whether you have only on MM4 install and only one MediaMonkey.ini + to look into the MediaMonkey.ini whether the [CustomFields] section is there with correct values? Maybe you installed MM4 in the past, then you installed MM4 as portable and thus has two MM4 versions and settings on the same PC ??

I have never installed MM4 as portable. I have searched through all of my HDDs and found MediaMonkey.ini only on:

C:\Users\[me]\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey
- the place of my MM5 installation (portable) on D:
- my automatic saves of MM4 with the Backup addon (also on D:)

I have now deleted MM5 completely and reinstalled (portable). No change: The custom headings are not transferred from MM4 but the values are. The MM.DB was correctly imported from MM4.

I see the same behaviour, Custom column heading names don't transfer from MM4 to MM5, All The data does so its never been a big deal for me to go in and redo the names in MM5.
I'm using MM4 latest beta in normal install and MM5 latest version as portable install.

And is also MM.DB file included within C:\Users\[me]\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\ directory? Or do you use a custom MM.DB location specified in the INI ? That would explain the issue.

Just checked and my DB file is in the location indicated above. I’ve just installed MM5 2167 as a fresh install and I’m still not getting the custom column headers transferred across.

Can you send me MediaMonkey.ini from Roaming/MediaMonkey folder and from MM5/Portable (petr @ mediamonkey . com) ?

Petr,

I have sent you both files. I also don´t see a change with 2167.

Is this something that will be fixed in the next release or does it have to be a per user fix, if the later could you please share the solution.
