Crash on Windows Restart/Shutdown [#15538]
Normally, this wouldn't be too much of an issue, since the computer is restarting (except for the fact that any crash makes MM forget its position in the NP list; would be nice if it saved position more often...), except that this crash prevents a restart or shut down from continuing, often kicking Windows back to desktop (and then I lose the record of my open Explorer windows).

This has been an issue through the last couple dozen builds, but it's still true with 2138.

Re: Crash on Windows Restart/Shutdown
Just updated to 2161, still happening. I even tried a fresh, non-portable installation, and the crash still happened, but Windows was somehow able to automatically close it down, unlike with the portable installations.
Re: Crash on Windows Restart/Shutdown
Confirmed still consistent in 2164.

Hi,
Can you please rename Persistent.json file to 1persistent.json file and try again?

Still did it, and, for the record, a new persistent.json was never written.

Tracked as 15538.

Re: Crash on Windows Restart/Shutdown
Are you sure that you deleted right one as newer MM5 versions allow normal install not just portable?malkierian wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 7:59 pm Still did it, and, for the record, a new persistent.json was never written.

Yes, because I installed over my portable installation with the new installer in portable mode. It did reset my UI to a certain extent when I removed it.
Re: Crash on Windows Restart/Shutdown [#15538]
Hi,
Try to rename MM.DB in portable folder and start MM5. if New MM.DB is created then you are using portable install if not that installation is flagged as Normal.

Re: Crash on Windows Restart/Shutdown [#15538]
I didn't think I needed another confirmation that my installation was portable (I firmly remember checking the option for portable installation on install), but I went ahead and did it anyway, and yes, it is a portable installation.
