I'm trying to sync from MMW 4.1.24.1883 to MMA 1.3.4.0854.
I have MMW gold and MMA pro.
It used to work fine, now when I try to sync a new playlist I get "failed to download", in this case it lists 400+ songs that didn't download.

Can you play files from the same Playlist if you approach it through UPnP in MMA? If so, in case you're doing a wifi sync send a debug log from MMA right after you experience this and post the logID here.

That may be the case, I was running MMW on a Windows 10 system. I installed instead on a system running Server 2012 and it worked like a charm. Thanks for your help.
