option for album art display on lock screen?

for a while now MMA has squished album art onto the lock screen. it used to crop out the central portion, but now it distorts. i actually preferred the old behavior, but would it be possible to add an option for this? perhaps with another option for tiling, or centering, or something like that?

square album art and 16:9 phones mean a compromise somewhere, and it would be really awesome if we could choose which compromise we like.

As far as I know, this is an Android feature, not a special by MMA, so I don't think they can modify anything

well, it changed with an MMA update, not an android update...

It's still cropping on my Nexus 6 with the latest MMA beta.

I just tested on on an S5 mini running android 5.1 and can't replicate. Maybe share a screenshot?
