Firewall blocking Auto Tag From Web access

Post by Mikey1969 »

Hi all,
BitDefender, while an awesome security suite, is also a PITA. It blocks everything. Every game I install gets blocked until I allow it, and now the Batch Tagger. Anything with 'Auto Tag From Web' turns up an error. MusicBrainz and Discog give me something that looks like a file access issue, while the Amazon selections give me an error that they can't access the site.

As soon as I turn the Firewall off, everything works. I just don't know what component of the various MM apps to allow thru the firewall. Any suggestions?

It looks like recently dashost.exe and svchost.exe have been blocked, but those access a ton, am I just supposed to open those up wide?

Hi,
the Amazon selections didn't work anymore. But choosing Discogs or Musicbrainz after installing the Tagger should work. Maybe you need to open the firewall for svchost.exe. Just give it a try.

OK, more details:

When I go to Auto Tag From Web(WITH the Firewall on), I get the following error:
Error #-2146697211 - msxml6.dll
The system could not locate the resource specified.

File: "C:\Users\{Insert My Username Here}\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\Scripts\DiscogsWebTag.vbs", Line: 6341, Column: 3

Then, When I press 'OK' I just get a second error about how the script couldn't execute because of the file not being available.

When I turn the Firewall off, it works just fine. But if it's blocking a file, that wouldn't be the firewall part, but the stupid "safe files" aspect of BitDefender. I'm going to poke around more, just figured I'd give an update so that we have something in here if anyone else has this issue later on.

I didn't know the BitDefender suite, but i know the Kaspersky suite. They block everything too.

"Okay, my Computer is now safe, but i can't open any website anymore"

Maybe the BitDefender suite write a LOG, where you could see, which program is blocked while you try the Discogs Tagger.
