Hi,

i don't forgive you, cause it's not a silly question.
Please give me one or more examples what you like to do. Which result you wanna see after tagging?

Greetings
Sven
The Unforgiven, I'll take it

Anyhow, I'll try to explain... One of the reasons I'm interested in the Involved People is because it includes the names of artists, so then in MMW ideally I could go to the media tree node for Artists and find all the albums or groups that an individual that might have recorded with. Using an example from heavy metal for you, lets say I wanted to find all the recordings I have with Scott Ian. If he could be tagged as an Artist via the Involved People from Discogs Tagger, I could go to the Artist node for Scott Ian in MMW and I might find Anthrax, Stormtroopers of Death, or whomever else he might have recorded with that are in my library. This would be a similar function to the Composer node, which I believe Discogs Tagger populates in MMW properties.

Hope that all makes sense, thanks for being so responsive!

Thank you for metal example. :D This is a language i understand

Hm, MM doesn't split the artists in the Involved People tag. So there is no artist list to look through. It is possible to write every artist from involved people into the composer, conductor or lyricist tag. But i think that isn't the right way..

But you can use the Search-Function in MM. If you type Scott Ian in the search field you find every song with his name in a tag. Before that you should go into options -> search and enable the search for the tag "involved people".

I hope my answer helps you.

Hi,

I know I'm a pain in the *bleep*, but I do have another request if you're up for it.
Basically, there are many artists that develop variations of the name, but I always save them with the basic one. For example, "Steve Miller Band" has many albums where it's tagged as "The Steve Miller Band" (or, since I have that option enabled, "Steve Miller Band, The"). What I would like is an option for always tag with the general name "Steve Miller Band", even if the album has a variation.

Thanks for keeping on supporting this and putting up with us annoying people ;)

Thanks for the response, if I was more clever I could probably make joke by referencing a particular Stormtroopers of Death song about language without offending, but I'll spare everyone...

Anyhow, it sounds like if I wanted to use the Involved People tag to populate the Artist tag then it would have to be something accomplished on the MMW end? Maybe I can make a suggestion for a future update... But using the search option is a good suggestion in the meantime.

Thanks again!

:( Again "Whoops! This page is no longer valid (the request token is invalid or has expired). Please return to the site that sent you here and try again. "

EDIT: Never Mind I got it to work, it is a test error

Hey, sorry for the long delay.

And no, you are NOT like annoying people. ;)

I think, this option is already implemented. Just try enabling "Don't Use ANV's" after starting the Discogs Tagger. This option "should" (if enabled) only use the artist name, which is marked as the primary artist name. Please try and give me a feedback please.;)

Yeah, the ANV's option seems to work. I never knew what it was for :)

However, I can't seem to open links anymore. IE just doesn't start. I don't really think it's due to your script, since there have been no upgrades to it, so it's probably something windows did. Maybe it's time you start thinking about that solution to open on the default browser again?
Anyway, just thought you'd know in case someone complains about it as well. :)

Same here. ;) I knew it after studying the script

I just have a weird behavior. Opening one or more links will do it. After closing all opened IE windows, i can't open a link again. IE doesn't start again..

But: I tried it the second time and ...taadaaa... the weird behavior didn't come again. clicking a link always open an IE window. I love Windows

I think i can't use the default browser, cause the script opens a html page in an IE window.

I did a quick check. The problem is that MM uses IE as an internal engine to create that page, so any links will be opened in IE. The problem with opening another window in IE is probably some setting that is preventing them and is a local thing.

There is an addon that solves it, though, for FF. I just tried installing Firefox View. It added an "Open in Firefox" option to the context menu. So right-clicking one of the links and selecting this option open in FF. It's possible there's one also for Chrome.

My current problem now is just with dates. Sometimes it tries to tag an incorrect date and often it doesn't even show the dates, like with [r2491895]. It's possible that it has to do with the discogs engine or something, but it's pretty annoying.

Hi !

Thank you for your Firefox hint. Maybe some user like to use it.

The script didnt show a date with release r2491895?

It didn't. It was more noticeable because the files didn't have the date tag filled in and it remained empty.

I tested the release r2491895 with the script and i see the date 2009. Original date is empty. Which option do you set for the date fields ?

Or show the script the date but it doesn't save them into the music-files ?

I am using the option where it will always use Date to tag. As per your instructions at the time, I use "Date" for both "Release Date" and "Date (original)" in the options.
