What do you mean by "I tend to disable/enable or vice versa the Now Playing submission to get things going" ?

Exactly that, I disable/enable that option in the last.fm settings.

Do you do anything special? like switch it off, then reboot MM? I tried to turn it off - played a few tracks, and then turned it back on, and played a few more... and still no luck. Which version MM and Last.fm scrobbler are you using? 4.1 and 1.0.2.29 (respectively?) Are you on Windows 8? I forgot to mention that if it matters... (btw, I really appreciate you taking the time to help and I hope I'm not destroying this thread. Maybe PM me if you think so, and if I can figure out what's wrong, I'll post the solution.

Sometimes restarting MM seems to help in this scenario. Unfortunately I can only speak from my user experience as I don't know why last.fm fails.

No luck with the restarting biz. Can someone paste what a successful log looks like?

You should check at least one collection to exclude from scrobbling (Under "Submission Rules" button). Sometimes it seems like the scrobbler doesn't work properly unless you choose one or more to exclude.

Here's what my log looks like:

Could the fact that I'm using MM v4.1.0 matter? I had several checked to be excluded, such as Podcast and Music Videos, plus a few others (Not Music)

EDIT: It's working. I excluded everything except Music and Classical Music and now it's working. You're the man. <3

Hi,
can I make this script import play stats to a newly created last.fm-account, ie not only the tracks currently playing but also those I have played over the years the information about which I have kept in MM's database?
Thanks for replies...

Oh, I was fearing for the worst.
This is why I am looking for a way now to first export my MM-playcount to another programme.

Last.fm claims to let you import data from WMP, Winamp or iTunes when you create a new account and set up the scrobbler

This is why I think we should be able to write playcounts into custom fields. I know that this request has been turned down before http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ag#p224709 but we might at least get some export options.
I can read MM custom tags with MP3tag and with MusicBee.

Re: Last.fm Scrobbler doesn't scrobble after hibernation

Post by mcow »

MMW did not scrobble for a session. This was after being freshly started but not having immediate access to the NAS; playback simply halted, I had to re-enter a password to the NAS, then started playing. Log is here.
It looks like the Now Playing notifications were transmitted but not the scrobbles; for the very last track, the log shows two failure messages, but none of the tracks in the log were scrobbled.

The computer was not hibernating, but it was asleep, prior to starting MM.

Last.fm Scrobbler 1.1 [Updated 4/25/2014 - testers wanted]

Post by mcow »

I just posted about running into a similar failure-to-scrobble, then I found this topic. I'm still using the old plugin. Today was the first time I've noticed missing scrobbles, and only from MMW; MMA's scrobbles, and scrobbles from Rdio, have been working fine.

Any idea why Tools | Extensions | Find Updates doesn't tell me about the updated last.fm plugin?

The new version hasn't been released, it's just a beta version available for testing and feedback. Update to it and be aware that last.fm also has been having issues the last couple days.
