I have an iRiver H340, and love it in everyway except one (or two (or three)). It can't rate songs and keep track of the last played and played count.
I am seriously looking to purchase an iPod just for these capabilities.
Before I do that, does anybody know of any other hardware players out there (other than iPods) that allow you to set the rating for a songs and keeps track of the last played date and played count?
Of course, I would then expect MM to sync these, as it does with iPods, and as far as I can see, iPods are the only ones that MM knows about.
Hardware MP3 players that can rate songs and...

I was hoping that someone who knew would reply, but as no one has, and I don't know, I'm bumping it!

Hi
I have an iRiver H10, but don't use it very much. I synch it using the iRiver program because my current MM can't properly synch to it. (the iRiver H10 is a mass-storage device, but it has a driver that iRiver and Windows Media Player use to update the "song database" in the player)
This is a screenshot of the iRiver program song list:
So it seems the player keeps track of the play count and so. I can rate the songs on the player. But for now, these database entries can't be used by MM yet.
Cheers

Does anyone know of a flash player that does this, too? I've been looking for one.Anubis wrote:Before I do that, does anybody know of any other hardware players out there (other than iPods) that allow you to set the rating for a songs and keeps track of the last played date and played count?
Re: the iRiver H10...
here is the manual for it
http://www.iriver.com/html/admin/......
On page 20 it shows how to set the rating, and since STEEGY has indicated that it is sync'd back to the iRiver database, it looks like the H10 will do what I want.
Now, we need to get JIRI to get MM to sync the ratings, date last played and times played between the H10 and MM.
Jiri, what info do you need from Steegy to help you do this?
At a guess, the H10 databases will need to be sent to Jiri, as that is probably where the info is kept.

The H10 exists in 5GB (color / pure), 6GB and 20GB versions and firmware for UMS and MTP. It seems you can change UMS (Universal Mass Storage) to MTP (PlaysForSure), but I'm sot sure.

-Media database construction, which is a necessary process for an H10 player to display song information in MUSIC mode.
-Playlist conversion, which is also a necessary process for your playlist files to become compatible (recognizable) with an H10 player.
