album release notification

Hey,
Can somebody tell me whether the following service exists:
I want to manage a list with all artists I like. Everytime a new CD was released I would receive a notification about it.

I've not heard of one. I guess a script could be written that works similar to my "DiscographyReport" which gets a list of albums by and artist from "Last.Fm". The different would be that the results would need to be stored each time so they could be compared and then only new ones reported. I'm not sure would well this would work though, the accuracy might not be great.
