Reinstalling MM with changes to previous installs with questions.

Post by huent999 »

I am going to be installing the latest version of MM 4.1.25.1895 soon. Then I'll get it to add my very updated music collection, which includes all the artwork changed from 300x300 to 500x500 and some artwork images are different from my previous install of MM. A lot of the music has been changed as well with a lot of remastered albums. Mostly on concerts, but will the cached versions that are held be overwritten, or will I need to remove absolutely everything I had previously. Also I'll be changing the HD as well for where the music is held. The thing I do not want, at any cost is for MM to overwrite my track numbers for the albums, as I've had to alter all of them back to what they should be. How do I stop MM from doing this please. Thanks.

Hi,
1. If you ragged files outside MMW then you should probably start with fresh library scan.
2. You can move tracks outside MM and once you remove old HDD, do not scan new hdd in MMW, but you just select old files and use file -> Locate moved/missing tracks and point to new hdd so that MMW can repair them on new location.
3. If you do not ant MM do any tagging got to Tools -> Options -> Library -> Tags and Playlists and disable update on edit and change time stamp so that MMW do not touch actual files.

Disable Infer File Properties under Tools > Options > Library (although this in it self doesn't tag the files themselves). Otherwise any changes to tags are made by the user, not MediaMonkey.
