And I just realized that is making up the difference between 89 and my setting (92). Thanks for your patience.

This is a key factor to replicate the issue. i.e. change the default value 89 dB in options to a non-default value ( like 92 dB) !
This way it subtracts/adds the difference 3.0 dB to the edited value when editing.
