I recently formatted my hard drive and started fresh. All of my music is stored on a local server (\\SERVER\Music). Prior to the format, MM had all of my music and worked fine. Now when trying to add my music back, all files fail to import with "error while reading file info."
Can anyone provide some help?

Re: Error while reading file info
Fixed it. I closed MM and updated my NIC driver. Not sure if that was the issue or not.
Re: [SOLVED] Error while reading file info
It can be the reason for Reading File error due the fact that bad driver can cause loss of data packets, making it corrupted which result in disconnection and/or incorrect file reading.
Thank you for update.

Error While Reading File Info
I know this topic has been posted previously, but it's marked [SOLVED], and their solution did not fix my problem.
I recently moved my files to a new network hard drive. Everything seemed to be working well, until I tried to add new files to my library. I keep getting the message "Error While Reading File Info". I've scanned the previous entries in this forum, and checked my network drivers for updates as suggested, but still can't read in my new files. The files are in .mp3 format, do not have unusually large cover art, and do not have file names longer than my old files do.
If I use Windows Explorer to locate one of these "problem" files, right-click, and select "Open With MediaMonkey", it plays just fine. It's only when I try to use the library that I get the error message.
I have been a MediaMonkey user for a number of years now, and have a lifetime Gold license. I'd really like to keep using the product, since it has a lot of features I love. But it's not useful if it won't read my files.
Thanks!

Which version of MediaMonkey and are you scanning from a file server (UNC or Mapped Path) or from a media server (DLNA/UPnP)?

Re: [SOLVED] Error while reading file info
Hi, Lowlander,
I am using the most recent version of Media Monkey (not at my home computer at the moment, but one of the first things I did was to make sure I had the most recent version). I am accessing the files using the server name rather than the mapped drive (//SERVER/FOLDER rather than W:).
Thanks!

Re: [SOLVED] Error while reading file info
Server name is better. If you copy one of the problem files to the local drive do you still get an error?
