All audio stutters & skips when played back from NAS

First time using MM. Loaded my FLAC library from NAS. Have 147,857 files. Changed a lot of tags manually. Now I cannot click on a song and then another without complete stoppage and skipping, although first song plays ok. But then it takes anywhere from 30 - 60 seconds to "reset" and play new song. Even if I pause first song before switching to another, same problem. It's like the new song is "loading". Do not have this problem playing songs from Playlist, just from the Library. Do not have this problem in Foobar. Going crazy please help!
