network path help needed

Post by jrstutz »

until recently [latest Windows 8 update] I was able to play from MM to my SqueezeBox using the following network path in the MM file tree:
This PC
Network
Microsoft Windows Network
Workgroup
JR_pc
\\GH\music\audio

even tho I have drive M:\ mapped to this network path, MM will read the M drive but will not PLAY music - and the network path [as stated above] NO LONGER appears in the file structure of MM

Is there a setting in MM that I need in order to see and play music from the network path above?

I presume you're not on the App, but are using the desktop software instead?

Yes, I'm using the desktop version, no touchscreen.

All was well before the last Windows 8.1 update [ver 6.3.9600 Build 9600] about 2 weeks ago. MM ver 4.1.7.1741 [gold]

You can just type the path into the add/rescan box (or copy/paste from windows explorer).

I added the path to add/rescan, it went thru thousands of files, yet the path does not appear in MM

When I try to play from the mapped drive - MM appears to play it [the audio levels move] but MonkeySqueeze does not send it to the SqueezeBox playlist

Where are you expecting it to show? You should be able to browse through Entire Library > Location (enabled under File > Manage Collections).

Did you enter the network Path, click Add and then OK? Is the Network Path still selected in the Add/Rescan Files window after you OK and re-open?

yes, I watched as it scanned thousands of files, yet the network path did not show up under
My Computer\network\Windows Network\GH\music\audio as it used to.

The other strange thing is that network path is mapped to drive M:
It will play to the PC speakers via MM - but MonkeySqueeze will not populate the playlist on the SqueezeBox server. All other drive letters [usb drives] play correctly.

That's not where you should look. My Computer bypasses the Library, you should use a Library node like Music or Entire Library. If the files were scanned in they'll be there.

YES! that appears to work - it populates the SqueezeBox web interface playlist [which was not working up until just now]
