How To Remove Windows Media Player Artwork Tags?

Post by Stigg »

It appears that Windows Media Player has added crappy artwork to my MP3 tracks without asking even though I have everything unselected under the "Library" settings.

I have since deleted all the crappy artwork (Folder.jpg & AlbumArtSmall.jpg) from the folders, but they are still in the MP3 tags.

How can I easily clean up all the redundant artwork in my MP3 tags? The tags only appear to be for Folder.jpg, but there may even be some AlbumArtSmall.jpg entries in the tags, but I haven't found any yet.

Thanks.

The Album Art Tagger addon should be able to fix this: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... art+tagger

Is there an easier way to fix my entire collection?

Also. There is also a front cover been added that is "not specified" on many albums. How to I easily fix all them?

Album art tagger is the easiest way. It works on all selected tracks.

Once I have fixed them all, what I (and others) would really like is to be able to stop WMP from touching our tags.
As previously posted, I have deselected everything I can see in the settings to try and stop it, but after Googling about this, it seems that there are no settings in the program to stop it.

I am experimenting with a couple of Registry settings to see if it works.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences]
"LargeAlbumArtSize"=dword:ffffffff
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences]
"SmallAlbumArtSize"=dword:ffffffff

Don't have WMP add your music to its library. If you do want to play songs in WMP the workaround could be to use MM4 with DLNA enabled and have WMP access the songs over DLNA from MM.

This.

Ever since I found you cannot disable that annoying art manipulation in WMP, I don't let my music anywhere near WMP.

Also don't add any file to the "libraries smart folders" in Windows explorer.
