Cannot install: runtime error (Win7/64)

Post by MoxieMomma »

Hi,

New here.
"Run time error (at 9:47) The process cannot access the file bc it is being used by another process."

Yesterday, I had to restore my DT to factory image: OEM Win7(64) running KIS2011 security suite.
Contacted Cust Svc for reactivation of my MM Gold license key.
Downloaded fine.

2 attempts to run the installer give the same error.

I am sole user, sole account, full administrator permissions on this machine.

Please advise -- 2 previous installs (1 on this box and another on my LT) went fine.

Thanks in advance,

MM

The error means MM isn't closed fully or another app has hooked onto one of the .dll files so it can't be replaced. Just restart the computer and run the installation.

Hi, nohitter:

No joy. :(

Rebooted and tried again. Same error, same place, a few steps into the process...

Any thoughts?
Previous installation on this same system a few months ago was flawless and error-free.
The only thing different is a different security suite: KIS2011.
It has given me no problems installing any of my other programs.

Please advise.

Thanks,

MM

Problem solved.

It was my new security suite, as I suspected (since MM had installed/run fine on this system with a different suite, prior to the OS restoration).

I first tried manually disabling the FW and AV features from within the UI and installing MM -- > no joy.

However, there is an "exit" option in the R-click context menu of the system tray icon. Doing that allowed installation to proceed.

Now I just need to fetch all my tunes backed up to my USB EHDD prior to the OS restoration.

I should be OK now.

Thanks!

Solution

I had this error too. I just installed from the directory. If installing directly from Firefox then I get the error, perhaps because FF is hooking onto the files? Who knows.
