Re: Setting columns and view permanently?

Should I conclude that it's not possible? IOW, that both the View and Column settings must be manually specified for each node in the tree?

Setting columns and view permanently?

There's plainly a setting somewhere that I've not unearthed. Viewing one node, I arranged columns with 'Choose Columns', and also set the View menu (enabling only 'Show Details'). How do I retain these settings across all nodes and for all sessions of MM4 please?

Re: More than one instance opens despite setting; FIXED

Can't say for sure which, if any, of my various actions resolved it, including two PC Win 10 reboots, but very relieved that it's now working normally. As MM4 is no longer supported I doubt if the programmers will be interested. But FWIW at one stage yesterday I did get this obscure error message wh...

More than one instance opens despite setting

Despite this setting, if I have MM4 open (and quiet) and then d-click an MP3 in File Explorer, it opens another instance.

Re: Opening the search scope

Thanks, understood. I rather thought that would be the case. But as it's at a fixed position (12 px from the right edge of the MM4 window) I've just written a simple macro to click that location from a KB shortcut. I use a program called Macro Express Pro, which has proved valuable over the years in...

Re: Accidentally lost my normal display?

Thanks Ian, that fixed it! I had not enabled 'Show Details'.

Accidentally lost my normal display?

I must have accidentally changed a setting, because the display is now showing 'groups' of album tracks. Clicking the Artist column heading does not restore the view I want, a plain listing with no gaps between lines. Much study of Options and searches on the Help wiki, so far without success. How d...

Re: Cannot delete Collection

Took an obvious guess a few minutes after posting and found it here!

C:\Users\terry\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey5\MM5.DB

Other questions stand.

Re: Cannot delete Collection

No, MediaMonkey 4 and 5 work independent from each other and don't share the database. You'll need to remove it from MediaMonkey 5 (Tools > Options > Collections & Views). Presumably MM5's database has a different name? Nightly and weekly backups apart, I can find only these two versions of MM....

Re: no metadata saved when ripping some CDs

Thanks, appreciated. I'm pleased to say that yesterday and today I'm having much greater success. I think the key in my case was to control my impatience and wait a bit longer after inserting the CD. And I've also had to resist re-organising and re-tagging each CD's tracks. That task awaits until I ...

Opening the search scope

A very narrow area drops down the options for scope of search. Can it be made wider? I find it very difficult to avoid opening the advanced search. Better still a hotkey shortcut? Or three, one for each option?

Re: Help with mask for ripping CD

Thanks, that’s helpful. Basically I’m just out of practice having not used the MM masks for years.

Am I correct that it’s not possible to delete from the beginning as well as the end of a field?

Re: Where is the Music node?

Music is a default included node like Classical Music too. However Gold users can change Collections as well as remove the default ones. This is likely what you did at one point. Replacing Music with Entire Library in the instructions will work for you (actually is better, but as it's hidden by def...
