Me too have some issues with album arts that are well in MMW, but not in MMA.

There is an addon for MMW5 that fixes album art issues automatically. Most of the time, if not always, this addon cures all issues in bulk mode and afterwards, after a new sync to MMA, the art is OK on Android, too.

Some more information: After a while the app gets responsive again and when skipping the tracks forth and back, the previously missing artwork shows up again.

So it's all about the freeze which causes the app to freeze the first minutes after Android Auto starts.

Unfortunately, it's not the case, the artwork is available in MMA properties or when playing the track solely in MMA without a connection to Android Auto.

However, as mentioned above, I guess this issue is due to the slow responsiveness of MMA in Android Auto as written elsewhere.
