Usefulness of bug reports
Bug reports are most useful when they result in improvements to the product. Improvements to the product usually result most quickly when: 1) The developer is able to replicate the bug because: - the description is sufficiently detailed - the bug in question isn't overly sensitive to differences bet...

Creative Zen Touch Test Results
Summary of Zen Touch Findings (stock firmware) and MM 2.5.1.908: 1) Playlists don't synchronize (i.e. the contents synch to the device, but the playlist itself doesn't). Windows Media Player doesn't sync playlists with the Zen Touch either, but the Nomad Explorer bundled with the device, does throug...

Debug logs--PLEASE
We don't have all of the various makes and models of different iPods and creative labs and iRiver and etc. devices.
For sync-related bugs such as this, PLEASE include a debug log so that we can figure it out sooner rather than later.
Thanks.

Playlist order
There's actually a very good reason for the current behaviour: if sorting by some field (e.g. if the user wanted to find a particular artist in the playlist) actually changed the playlist order, there would be no way to recover the original order!

Synch problems with iPod
Question about these problems:
You both say that when you synch large numbers of tracks, some of them don't play. Assuming the tracks that don't play are Tracks 5 & 7 from Album A, what happens if you synchronize _only_ album A?
Do tracks 5 & 7 then start synchronizing correctly?

Crash on Sync
Balinsky,
Did the crash also occur with the standard (non-debug) build?

Message re. CD burning speed limit
Judas, I tried MM without the reg key, and am not sure I understand the problem--i.e. the error dialog pops up telling the user that he/she cannot burn at > 4x unless upgrading to Gold and then returns the user to the burn wizard. As I tested, it seemed 'obvious' that setting the speed to 4x is what...

Creative Zen Sleek Synchronization
fyi I've been doing some testing with the Creative Sleek device and build 908 (alpha 4) of MM, and synchronization is working well (including playlist synchronization) with the following exceptions: 1) Whenever an 'Album' field is empty, attempts to play tracks by the artist fail. This is due to a b...

Alpha 4 now posted
Thx. fyi, I've just posted Alpha 4.
Note: the pre-alpha4 build that you had linked to could corrupt playlists when you synch to an iPod--be forewarned.

MediaMonkey 2.5.1.908 -- Alpha 4
Its been several weeks since the last build...for good reason. This one introduces some major new functionality including Auto-conversion (which converts tracks on-the-fly during synchronization--will be a Gold-only feature), much improved data CD burning/disk spanning, and plenty of bug fixes. Befo...

Build 907
I don't recommend downloading this build--It has a serious problem with iPod synchronization that has been corrected in Alpha 4 (build 908).

File Monitor problems
I've retested the File Monitor functionality and can't replicate any of the problems you're observing. If you regularly observe these problems, please send me a debug log.
Thx.

Directories on Shuffle
Mr. Slugworth,
We tested this one out and couldn't replicate the problem. Can you delete everything from your iPod and then send a debug log of this problem using Alpha 4 (coming soon)?
Thx.

Synchronize playlists
Mr Slugworth,
Unless I'm misunderstanding you, MM's auto-synchronization functionality does exactly what you're looking for. i.e. it'll synch any playlists in your collection to your device (if so configured).
