Re: auto tagging from web sources (Amazon????)

A good source for album art is allmusic.com. Click on the album cover for a large version, then right-click and copy and then in MM right-click and paste on the artwork tab (remove any existing images). cduniverse.com also has cover art for many releases. Discogs also has good album art - often seve...

Re: Disable tracking of play history and statistics?

I'm curious why this is an issue. If you aren't interested in the data, why not just ignore it. The cost (in space and time) to collect and store this is trivial and if you don't want to see it, just delete the columns with it from all your displays.

Re: Possible to manually add a cover ?

If you copy a cover image to the clipboard (say from albumartexchange.com or allmusic.com, for example) you can go to Properties -> Artwork and paste (right-click) the image. If there are already covers in the file you might have to highlight them and remove them to get your image to appear when the...

Random play order

I have information about my collection stored in Orange CD (it is organised to store and display much more information about an album than MM). OCD allows the user to play the tracks of an album through another program. I have set it up to use MM with this command line: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Media...

Re: Sort by Letters then Numerals?

iTunes is one of the few cases where letters are sorted before numbers, not just in music, but in most other application types. Among the music players and music library programs I know (MM, J River, Sonata, Windows Media) only iTunes sorts numbers after letters. Excel, to point to a rather widely u...

Re: Empty Playlists

This is a well-known problem to MM users, but not apparantly to MM programmers. If you have a playlist on an MP3 player (of any kind) and one of the same name in MM on your PC, when MM scans the player (as it must in order to sync) MM will remove from the playlist on the PC EVERY track not on the MP...

Re: Accurate Rip, Freedb and MediaMonkey

I have had the same problems plus MM telling me it cannot rip a track that every other program has no trouble with. I've stopped using MM to rip tracks and use dbpoweramp only. It provides a lot more tagging information (and from multiple sources) and besides, unlike MM, it finds cover art. But the ...

Re: Won't rip

I am using the latest Media Monkey release (4.0.7 1511). I do not use betas; they have as many problems as they do solutions. Just look at the section of this forum. I am a music listener, not a programmer. And, in any case, even the current version ought not to do this if neither iTunes nor dbpower...

Won't rip

I have been adding a number of cds to media monkey. All too often MM says it cannot rip a track, suggesting the problem may be a DRM violation(?). iTunes has no problems ripping the track nor does dbPowerAmp. What gives?

Re: Column Browser Floating Free

Although it takes some rather fine manuevering to get it to do this, eventually I can get it anchored. But why do I have to do this everytime I start MM? Isn't there something I can do to make it stay there?

Column Browser Floating Free

I know I have seen discussions of this before, but I couldn't find it using search. I normally have my display set up so that the media tree occupies the left pane, Now Playing and Art and Details occupy the right pane, media player is across the bottom of the screen. In the middle pane I used have ...

Re: genre TAG problem

I must confess I don't understand at all the concept "genre must be correct". Genre is not a fact, but an opinion. Something you might want to tag as blues, I might want to tag as jazz. Just check any Miles Davis album on freedb to see how often exactly the same album gets tagged with different genr...

Not sure just what I did, but the tracks now imported with no problems. Mystery overcome (but not actually solved).

Can't Import Tracks

For some reason MM will not import some MP3 tracks. I have checked Entire Library and used search to find song titles, but to no avail. I did that even though MM told me at the end of the import sequence that it had imported 0 files and updated 0 files, a pretty good hint that I wouldn't find them. ...

That's exactly what I needed. I did not know there could be if clauses in the formats. It's good to know.
