Re: MM doesn't show files on device

If it is an iPod touch (and the tracks are still on it) you can, of course, delete them directly from the touch - no need to use iTunes So, it sounds like you're good to go as far as having a copy of the album secure and you just want to confirm a delete of the remaining 10. Do those 10 still show u...

Re: sync

Or (MM has many options for this) highlight the tracks you want to add to your portable device, right click -> Send to and the device should be the top choice in the menu - IF your device is set up to sync with MM.

Re: Auto replacing <album artist> with contents of <artist

Why would you want to have two fields that exactly duplicate each other? The album artist field was created in the ID3 system to provide a field that would be constant for an album even when the artist differed from track to track. In mixed compilation albums the album artist would be "Various artis...

Re: Advice on how to deal with featured artists

The album artist field can be used for this, if you want to have a primary artist. The use of ; as lowlander suggests could also be used, but your message suggests that you want the artist field to use things like "featuring". I seldom use the artist field as a search or organizing field, but use al...

Re: is there a way to search all playlists?

MM will warn you if you are about to add duplicates to a playlist and allow you to canbcel the add. No need to search the list before you add to see if the tracks are already there.

Re: CD-R metadata

If it is a locally produced CD-R, the chances that it is in the database MM (and most programs) uses to get meta-data is very slim. The database is just supplying a best guess.

Re: Album Order - Disc Order

I've noticed a number of issues with the album artist field in recent comments implying that MM uses album artist wrong. I think that is not the case; MM does use album artist as intended by the creators. Here's a good explanation of what the field is intended to do: http://www.blisshq.com/music-lib...

Re: Questions Before I Commit

I have a number of tracks I purchased from iTunes before 2009 and their extension is m4P. All - all - play flawlessly in MM (4.1.1). My computer is authorized in iTunes and I still have iTunes and QuickTime installed. None of these conditions seem at all onerous to me. I still use iTunes to make pur...

See previous discussion of incorrect sorting: http://forum.mediamonkey.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=75728 where MM people seem to think that this is a feature, not a bug.

Re: Changing sort order/priority.

MediaMonkey sort Album > Album Artist > Disc# > Track# which is what you'd expect. Not at all what I would expect. If I have an album of an opera, as I do (Broadway show, movie soundtrack have the same idea), I would want the Artist(s) to be identified for each track, but I sure wouldn't want the t...

Re: Changing sort order/priority.

I'm puzzled. In the 4.1.0 (1691) that I use the default is that when I have MM sort by album title, the next sort factor IS automatically track number. I don't have to use the CRTRL key at all. The only exception is if there are multiple discs to an album and then it automatically sorts Album - Disc...

Discogs changed their api on Feb 1. Did your script work after that? If not, then that's your problem.

Re: Songs disappeared from playlists

Thanks, but does this mean my playlists are lost forever? I don't even know what caused them to be emptied... MM caused them to be empty when it scanned the device you want to sync to. If there are tracks in a playlist on your computer that are NOT on the same named playlist on the device you are s...

Re: auto tagging from web sources (Amazon????)

A good source for album art is allmusic.com. Click on the album cover for a large version, then right-click and copy and then in MM right-click and paste on the artwork tab (remove any existing images). cduniverse.com also has cover art for many releases. Discogs also has good album art - often seve...
