Re: MMA can't find computer on network

How are your devices accessing your router? Wired access? WiFi access? If WiFi, are you sure they're not connecting to a Guest wifi netywork? This would allow internet access, but would block any access to your LAN; that's the point of a Guest network. Check what IP addresses have been assigned to t...

Re: Control whats played on UPnP device via my PC?

You need to set Kodi to make itself available as a DMR

Settings/Services/UPnP/DLNA/Allow remote control via UPnP

Do you have a UPnP/DLNA media app running on the FireTV?

Re: MM only plays one track at a time when streaming

I have experienced this with some renderers (DLNA apps on Android).

BubbleUPnP app DMR advances tracks okay.
Denon DRA-N5 streaming amp advances okay.
Soundmate M1 DMR advances okay.

Seems to be some difference in interpretation of the DLNA spec between devices, at both ends...

Re: Can I stream from MM to Denon Heos 7 speaker?

I don't have a Heos7. But I did look at the Heos1 a couple of years ago. The user manual states it is DLNA compliant. There are reviews of the Heos7 that mention DLNA: http://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/denon-heos-7 https://www.richersounds.com/heos-7-hs2-black.html https://www.digitaltrends.com/...

Re: Stream what's playing in MMW to Riva arena wifi speaker

> I'd like to hear what I play on the PC in MMW ("now playing") on a Riva Arena wifi/DLNA speaker. Simply tell MM to Play to the Riva. This can be done either by right-clicking on the play bar and hitting 'Choose Player', or via the menu Tools/Options/Player/Choose Player/UPnP/DLNA Renderer/<select ...

You may want to see if you still need to. Their patent has recently expired, and they don't intend to renew it.

Re: Experience ripping a large number of CD's for MM?

> Perhaps you could clarify - how do you choose how compressed to make it? (I've heard of compression 1-8 available ? There was some discussion on the ripping thread about the FLAC compression level. I use -8 to get maximum compression, but there is an argument that is a bit OTT. I don't find any pr...

Re: Experience ripping a large number of CD's for MM?

> Same is for MP3s We can't supply free encoder but MMW can support some free MP3 encoders manually installed by user. But you do supply an MP3 encoder with the standard install kit; you supply lame_enc.dll. Which you then disable after 30 days, to encourage upgrade to Gold. Does this mean that a Go...

Re: Experience ripping a large number of CD's for MM?

> I don't think EAC can convert WAV > FLAC, but MediaMonkey can. Of course EAC can. It can also use LAME to compress to MP3 without any dubious 30-day 'trial period' for allowing use of free software (LAME). The fact that MM does this as an inducement to get people to buy MM is questionable practice...

Yes, there is. from the menu, use Tools/Compress WAVs. Easy...

You set the compression options via the menu EAC/Compression Options.

To rip and compress, hit the second icon on the left-hand sidebar menu, with the 'CMP' tag.

Re: Experience ripping a large number of CD's for MM?

I got MM to compress my entire collection to MP3 in a parallel directory (actually on a portable HDD), using LAME. It took about a week, but I didn't have to do anything other than tell it where to put it. Then I created a portable MM installation and library on that HDD, which I use only for syncin...

Re: Directory and filenames - what do YOU use?

I prefer my physical storage to reflect the actual CDs in my collection, or the source I got them from (if downloaded). This means I can re-rip if necessary, or know exactly where a track came from. So, since most of my music is from CDs I own, I keep most of it in a directory with my name as root. ...

Re: 4 Channel FLAC/wav

In order to play a 4-channel, dual stereo recording, you will also need a four-channel, dual stereo DAC. Whilst sound cards do support things like 7.1 surround sound, and so would seem to have more than enough DACs to support the required four channels, I'm not sure exactly what data stream they are...

Re: Experience ripping a large number of CD's for MM?

I only use 'Track# Artist - Title' for track filenames for 'Various Artists' compilation albums. In which case, the metadata tag 'Album Artist'' is 'Various Artists', 'Artist' is the track artist, and 'Title' is the track title. EAC makes this naming selection for me, if I tick the box to tell it th...
