Help with Search by Genre

Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I'd like to use the search box to display all my tracks that are NOT of the genre Podcast, but I can't figure out how to do it. I tried NOT genre:Podcast -genre:Podcast genre:-Podcast ...none of those worked and I don't know what else to try. I did re...

Re: How can I search for an ampersand as a word?

Options > Search Uncheck all options except for title "&" in quick search bar Alternatively: Advanced search (magnifying glass next to search bar) Advanced tab Title contains & Both work fine in MM 4.0.7 This is excellent. It gets me where I need to be. Thanks, nohitter. Searching for & the way you...

Re: How can I search for an ampersand as a word?

putting the & mark in one of the custom fields and making an auto playlist to look for that in that field should work for you then you don't have to do a search for each song like that. just go to the playlist and scroll in it till you see what you want. 8) That would be a good idea for new tracks ...

Re: Solo Artist

Thanks for all the help. Involved people looks interesting and the Magic Nodes script looks perfect. I have Magic Nodes installed but have never made my own other than copying an existing and modifying. Will see that I can do. Thanks again. In the case you cited, you probably want to put "Beach Boy...

How can I search for an ampersand as a word?

I searched the forum and did not see this question asked or addressed. Is there any way to treat the ampersand as a word and search for it? For example, I have the song Jack & Diane by John (Cougar) Mellencamp. I would like to find that song and any others that have the & in the title. None of these...

Re: How many "lifetime license" users out there?

Count me as a lifer, too. I found MM about 5 years ago while searching for a replacement for a player I used to like but soured on, JetAudio (paid version). Subsequently bought a MM 3 Gold license, then upgraded to a lifetime license around June of last year in anticipation of MM 4. I've been evalua...

Re: What is the best way to reindex new tracks?

Thank you very much for this, lowlander. I definitely will give your method and this script a try. I have a backup of the old files, so I can take a mulligan. :D

What is the best way to reindex new tracks?

I could use some advice on this. I had a particular CD in my library that I ripped a couple of years ago. Today, I re-ripped the CD again, using a higher bit rate than I did previously. I rip using EAC and these are mp3 files. New new files have the identical name and path as the old files, i.e., th...

Track Properties panel request to show data

Here is a feature I keep wishing MM had: I often edit multiple tracks at a time by highlighting the tracks and opening the Properties panel. It would be very helpful if at least some of the fields would have a different appearance if NONE of the selected tracks had data vs. if multiple tracks had di...

Re: MM4: Restore MM3 Ratings Behavior in the Preview Window

If MM 4 changed in regard to rating tracks as theta_wave says, I am in agreement. Why start at 0.5 or "bomb" instead of a middle value of 3 or 2.5? Don't most users have more highly rated songs in their libraries than "bomb" songs. I don't imagine a lot of users go out of their way to fill their lib...

MM4 sometimes won't "let go" of the Search result

I've searched the forums and don't see any other report of this. In MM 4.0.2 on my Win 7 Starter netbook, I use the Search box to search for something & I get my result. Sometimes when I erase the search string, MM does NOT return me to the Node I came from, which is usually the Artist & Album Artis...

What are your 50-60 keywords? Maybe that will give someone an idea of what to suggest?

Re: Search is returning incorrect extra results sometimes

I read the Mantis entry you referred to, Lowlander, plus all the referenced forum postings and other Mantis bug entries. I don't see where any of them say that the behavior I am reporting is expected, e.g., that "tom" (with quotes) should find "phantom". And I really don't see why it should find "ph...

Search is returning incorrect extra results sometimes

Here's an odd thing I found when using the Search function. I want to find all my songs with the word "Tom" in the title. I set my Search options to just look in the Title, and type "Tom" (including the quotes) in the Search box. Search dutifully finds "Tom Dooley", "Tom's Diner", "Major Tom (Coming...

Re: Different field order in Properties box for different ty

Thank you, nohitter. I appreciate your looking into it. When talking about the tab order above (how it goes through the fields left-to-right, then down one row and repeat, etc.), I probably should have asked specifically that consideration be given to changing that, also. (MM 3 kind of did the same ...
