It should be possible to configure Generic USB plug-in to work this way (you might need to substitute a drive letter for some temporary path).

Have you tried to start with a clean iPod? It really should work fine then.

jiri, can you comment if the synch is different depending on how items are selected for synch within mediamonkey?
No, this really shouldn't matter.

You are right, I studied the issue and this is what I found: The latest iPod firwmare updater causes after restoring iPod (this step is needed!) that SysInfo file on iPod is cleared and isn't properly filled in again. Therefore MM doesn't know type of the connected iPod and doesn't know that album a...

Are you sure? I really should work as a standard iPod plug-in, it did for me. Maybe you could try to start with an empty device (if it isn't a big problem for you), but it should work anyway.

I'm pretty sure MM did not damage your device. It's either a hardware issue and only iRiver can do anything about it, or it's something with the device HD content, in which case I'd recommend to reset it (refer to manual).

It's transferred separatelly using the protocol and it's up to the device to store it somewhere and display it to user.

Yes, it's definitely covered here in other topics, generally speaking is isn't a bug because iPods and MTP devices don't need it, however we'll try to support this feature somehow.

I understand that it could be a problem for some users and so I made a modified version of the plug-in, until a new version is released, you can download it here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/beta/d_iPod.dll It works as the one in MM 2.5.3, but if you go to registry and create a DWORD value HKEY_CURRE...

Ensure my tagged art is < 32kb (hopefully via a script)
This is possible, check out scripting forum or ask someone to write it.
Export/copy art as Album Art.jpg during sync and remove from tag.
This is currently possible only if you write a new device plug-in.

Since there was quite a confusion re. this option for iPod, it was disabled and is enabled only for other players (that support m3u playlists). So, currently it isn't possible to create m3u playlists on iPods, unless Generic USB plug-in is used (however, then iPod DB isn't supported).
