Go into Options, and then Personalize Home Screen. There you can enable separate Artist and Album Artist views.

I don't know if all head units have an option for it, but mine has an option to change the auxiliaries volume -- mine allows to raise it by up to 6db which is still low...

You could install multiple instances as portable installs. Might give you what you're looking for? Then they would each have their own database, settings, etc.

Didn't you in the past report the opposite behavior as a bug?

Do the files have both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags? I don't know if it has been fixed over the years, but I remember MM (used to) pick up values from the v1 tags if missing in the v2 tags.
