Re: Migrating Playlists

Your response seems to be incorrect. I have corrected the faulty datapaths so my MMonkey Gold Library is restored but most of the playlists are empty. As I constructed every one of them to accommodate a class of music I know they were all at least partly filled before the datapath crisis. How do I r...

Re: Poor Performance; lost data

I've received an email stating that you haven't heard from me in 144 hours. I bet you'd get a different answer from lowlander or the author of Locate/Update file location!! This issue is well on the way to solution, using the Locate/Update script. The instructions for use are thoroughly scrambled a...

Re: Update Location of Files in Database 1.3 (2012-06-12) [M

I'm confused by your "Usage" comments and would appreciate clarification. Here's the situation: I have a 1TB external HDD and an instance of Media Monkey on a laptop which has correct paths to those files. All of the contents of that 1TB drive have been copied onto a new, 2TB drive to provide room f...

Re: Poor Performance; lost data

MediaMonkey uses driveID which can be updated: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63823&hilit=update+location+of+files+in+database This looks like a very complicated procedure and somewhere in the string it is said that it is "dangerous." Here's another statement of the problem: W...

Re: Poor Performance; lost data

They are right there for each version. Alternative: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8811&sd=d You can install it right over the existing install, your current Library will be retained. This means that whatever is in the Library (inlcuding Playlists) will remain as-is. As the cu...

Re: Poor Performance; lost data

Thanks for your various repsonses. The link you provide takes me to a knowledgebase which discusses various earlier versions. I need a download link. Where would I find the library of available downloads WITH LINKS so I can get one? If I had a download on my PC, would I delete the existing Mediamonk...

Re: Poor Performance; lost data

Did you maybe remove files from the Library? That would empty out Playlists. If you have an older copy (backup) of the database you could revert to it. You can also try reinstalling MediaMonkey. Older versions: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/List/Index/16/software No; n...

Re: Poor Performance; lost data

Run File > Maintain Library with complete optimization enabled. No effect. It takes several seconds for the playlists to respond to being "clicked" on but at least 50% of them are empty and every one of them was created by me so there was content at one time. This seems like a corrupted program pro...

Poor Performance; lost data

I run v4.1.18.1852 Gold under Win 7 Ult. Over the past two months orso MMonkey has started running erratically with various issues such as failing to search correctly (search term IS in the data but not found), all my playlists are empty altho the database is 42.4 MB and shows it was modified yester...

Re: Easy Migration

I doubt it (it's just a list of files), do make sure you have rid the PC of your problem files as otherwise any Playlists pointing to them would reimport. I suggest you keep a copy of the old database. This way you can always revert to it if you need. Well, as a point of curiosity I have a folder t...

Re: Easy Migration

You can do the same with a Portable Install on your existing PC. You can also use File > Clear Database on the existing installation. Metadata should be retained as by default it is saved to the files (in most cases). Playlists however would be lost (can be exported using Tools > Scripts > Export A...

Re: Easy Migration

As indicated in the link (step 4b): http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=69 So download and run DBGView, download and run the debug version of MediaMonkey, reproduce your issue, save log in DBGView and attach log to Support Ticket. Lowlander, this problem never seems to go away, doe...

I've gone thru the manual and looked in FAQs but I see nothing on Debug Log. How do I collect this?

Re: Easy Migration

That makes little sense to me. You're saying you can't get the Context menu to show on M4A files in MediaMonkey? Just selecting the file and using the Delete key then? Or removing the Folder(s) containing them from the Location node (node any files in those folders would be removed. Yes, correct. A...
