Re: No background tasks! [#18866]
There are 2 things we need to do: 1) Optimize when the scanner runs (it _does_ need to run sometimes e.g. after a sync operation) 2) Figure out why it sometimes takes an hour The first we can fix without a log, but we really could use a log to help understand what causes the second issue. Thanks! -...

Re: No background tasks!
In no case should it ever automatically scan. It's a mobile device and you have to assume that a user will have full battery life to listen to music. In my case, I travel on aircraft all the time. I can't listen to music for more than an hour because scanning eats up all the battery life. Scanning s...

Re: No background tasks!
I've been testing and so far and it seems that removing folders to monitor solved the problem. It still attempts to scan (scanning status message appears) but since folders are removed, it finishes within 5 seconds.

Re: No background tasks!
The SD card is always installed, never removed. Not even a single time is it removed.
Scanning issue happens after restart, after turning it on, or pretty much anytime I start MMA or even navigate around its windows. I would say that 90% of the time some kind of MMA scanning task is occuring.

Re: No background tasks!
MMA v 2.0.0.1080
Files stored on SD memory only.
No other applications are accessing the files. Everything was stripped down to preserve battery life.
And I just verified again that simply awakening the device from sleep mode caused MMA to say "Scanning files into the library : Audio".

Re: No background tasks!
I'm not sure it's related to video scanning as there are no videos on the SD card or device.
MMA says "Scanning files into the library : Audio". That is the task that takes forever and kills the battery. It seems to always be doing that every time I start using MMA.

Re: No background tasks!
Also when I try to manually sync to the MM server, it is temporarily deferring the sync stating:
"Sync is waiting for other background operations to complete."
That provides evidence that MMA is scanning in the background.

Re: No background tasks!
Hi Lowlander, I have a device running Android 4.06.00. I don't see any function in the Android settings menus specifying media folders or videos. The closest I can find is "Storage Manager" which appears to measure space usage and to automatically garbage collect against older files. In an...

No background tasks! [#18866]
With every successive version of MMA, it seems to always be scanning the file system for new files. Unfortunately this always kills the battery in just over an hour of play time, and it makes everything super slow. The *ONLY* time MMA should be scanning files for changes is during sync. Otherwise, p...

Re: [REQ] Quick Tagging GUI tools
Preview window can be set to allow tagging (right click, Allow edits). Although it does allow editing, it's clumsy. It's a tiny text box and you have to use the keyboard. It should let you select various Moods, Occassions, Quality, etc. via checkboxes so that the database isn't polluted with errone...

Re: MediaMonkey on ubuntu (or linux)
Any updates on a native Linux version of MM. I'm done with Windows. Windows 11 is a privacy nightmare and Windows 10 is one step short of that. I'm sure Micro$oft will push every single aspect of Telemetry and MS cloud accounts into Windows 10 retroactively. That's what they did with other versions ...

[REQ] Quick Tagging GUI tools
MM4 was significantly more efficient for mass tagging and auditing new music. MM5 takes many more keystrokes and/or clicks. Specifically, I need a way to easily tag a playing song with tags such as Mood, Occassion, Quality. I use numerous tags at the same time for a song or group of songs (e.g. Mood...

GUI corrupted after extended use
Using MM5 on a laptop and a desktop. Same problem on both. Leave it running for a day or two, or hibernate the laptop. Then, the GUI is either completely unresponsive or it has severe corruption. Right now, on the laptop after hibernation, only half the GUI redraws or responds to inputs. Also, there...

Could you please note which post and where is the log? Are you referring https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=99515 ? This one was another regression, but during USB sync (already fixed in 2422). So could you please re-test with 2422 asap and generate a log in case you are sti...

Re: Sony NW-A55 not all songs appear on playlist
Hi, Yes, some devices do not handle diacritics correctly. See https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=18069 and list of most common diacritics at https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=326377#p326377 Can you release a profile for Song Walkman devices that doesn't have character pr...
