Asus RT-AC87U and MM

by fcoulter » Fri Aug 14, 2015 10:14 am

I'm confused.

I've recently attached a 4 TB drive to my Asus RT-AC87U wireless router. The wireless router has let me configure the drive as an FTP site (which I've done for backups) but will also allow me to "share media files from the USB disk via a Media Server directory, [or a] Samba share service". Right now my MM Library takes a large portion of the memory of my computer, a Windows 10 tablet. I'd like to move the media library to the 4 TB drive and have it be accessible to my home network, getting it off of the tablet.

However, I like MM and would like to continue using MM to tag, debug, encode, edit, and organize my music. (I'm also thinking about ripping some video files, too.)

So the question is, can I use MM in conjunction with the 4 TB platter on the router? If so, how? I've looked, but haven't found if what I want to do is possible, or how to do it. (This may have more to do with my search skills than anything else.)

Thanks for the help,

Top
