Re: Can't get Album Art

nohitter151 and lowlander:

Clearing out my entire library, and re-scanning the music files did the trick. But that took HOURS! Will it really be good for me to remove the MM from the music HD now?

My friend says I should keep my licensed MM in both my desktop OS drive, and in the HTPC OS drive, and that way I can move the music HD back and forth.

If it doesn't matter, I would prefer to keep it as now. I loaded the MM into a file on the music HD, and then this morning cleared it out, and re-scanned the music files at 9 AM
and it just finished at 3 PM. Music and album art are back. But I would rather not clear the MM's, uninstall, re-install, add my license, and then scan the files again for the library.

Thanks for your help,
Lyndon

Thanks, nohitter151.
I am going to let this "add to the library" do its thing, since I started it this morning, after clearing the library. Then I can see if the music and the album art is back in action.
Then, I guess I could do that uninstall thing, though I don't see how that is to my advantage?

MM doesn't take that much hard drive space.

If you uninstalled MM via the Add/remove programs in the control panel you will have to re-enter the license key after reinstalling.

So.....
My computer helper friend, told me to delete the MM from both my OS drive and the music drive.
Reload it onto the OS drive 1 (desktop)
It is already on the OS drive for the HTPC
Then I should have it scan that Samsung Music HD

Does that sound about right?

I foolishly? cleaned out the MM on the Samsung, and have been loading the music files for the last hour.
I guess that means I need to clean it all out, and then remove all the MM's.

Do I need to put in my MM license again for these two locations, nohitter151?

It should not matter where MM is. The problem is the tracks' locations, not where MM is.

If the files are grey it is because the database is looking for files that aren't there. In other words, you moved the files to a new drive or changed the file path in some way. You need to remove these grey entries and rescan the tracks from the new location.

In MediaMonkey itself right click on a track and select Properties. In the Properties window go to the Album Art tab.
If I right click on a track either in the library list on the left, or on the main area, and select properties, and to to the Album Art tab, the window is blank.
Remember, if I click play, it just rolls down the song titles and I get nothing.

I think the album art is embedded with the songs, but I can't seem to associate those music files again with my MM.
I got to run to the Sundance Film Festival right now. I'll check back in a couple of hours.
Thanks, Lowlander.

Nohitter 151,
I think you helped me with this problem before.
Do I need to reconfigure my MM to associate with these files? I can right click the title, and click properties, and it lists the artist and song, but no album art below.
But if I click play now, it just runs through the album titles on the right, and does not play anything.

I think you and Lowlander helped me with this before. I am waiting right now for the cable guy to check my internet connections (not related to this), and then I have to
leave for a Sundance Movie Festival showing. If you have any ideas, or suggest that I look back at my posts, I will try to do that either tonight, or more likely tomorrow morning.

Thanks for all the forum help. I wish I could understand this better.

Alright,
This seems like the problems I had before.
When I go to MM in either the OS hard drive, or the Music HD, and open it, and then say play now, it does not play it, but just runs down the song titles.

The only way I can play songs is to go into the actual files in the hard drive, to a direct song, and then tell it to play the song via MM.

Nohitter, I am not trying to obfuscate Lowlander's question. When I right click these non-playing titles, it lists not much in the "Options".
Do you want me to go into the hard drive, pick a song, make it play in MM, and then right click the small album art in the bottom right hand corner?

You didn't answer Lowlander's question. Right click a track > Properties > Album art tab. Does any art appear there? If so, hover the mouse over it. What does the pop up bubble say?

Lowlander,
My friend was trying to keep my programs and OS on one drive.
We put all my music files on a separate drive (E), with another drive as a safety backup.

The plan was...I have the music drive (E) in a removeable sleeve. That way I can take it out and put it into my HTPC in the living room, when I want to access music.
Or, remove it from either computer when I am not listening to music, so it is not running all the time.

When I placed it for the first time in the setup, and ran the MM, it recognized the separate hard drive, but it did not add the music to the library. I tried doing that and got a lot of the duplicate titles, etc. but no art. So I installed MM into the seperate music drive (E), and got both the duplicates, and again no art.
I know the art images have to be there, but how to get them to associate again to the music titles...

Also, I am ripping some of my old cd's again, and directing it to a new folder in the music hard drive, titled, Music2011, just to be careful, but it now lists it only a sub-folder in the hard drive, with this path: Music2011>All>Artist>All>Album
Then I can tag the album cuts with album art.
None of this shows up in the Library.

I always click "save image to tag if possible" and not the second option.

Right click on the file that's showing the art in MediaMonkey, select Properties and go to the Album Art tab. Hover over the image shown and see what the tooltip says.

The lower left hand box is the Album Art Window.

I can either highlight the name of the album in the Library list, or play it. It won't show either way.
The only way to bring up the art is to directly go to the hard drive to the cut, and then play it in Media Monkey, and then it shows in the very small box in the bottom right.
Never in the large Album Art Window in the lower left.

Can't find an Album Arts folder. So does that mean it is embedded?
