Control panel > Sound > Communications tab > Change option to "Do nothing"

This bug is easily reproducable. When you start a Skype conversation (or before you start one), pause Mediamonkey (a song must be playing). After the skype conversation ended, click play again and the volume is not updated correctly. This might be a skype bug, however the only program that does not update it's volume correctly is Mediamonkey.
