Re: Duplicate files

Now I got it. I disabled the two checkboxes on the right side but I still had enabled my main folder in the folder tree. Now disabled also this folder and now I no longer get an analysis when I start mediamonkey.

Thanks for help.

By the way I still don't understand why mediamonkey creates more than one data base entry for one single file.

Feel free to show a screenshot (imgur.com). Only Folder Monitoring would run a scan on startup. Everything else is just reading filelists.

I disabled both checkboxes in File > Add/Rescan Files.

Then you likely have Folder Monitoring still enabled.

The duplication is expected. You moved the database, it points to an old location (this includes different drives with same letter), scanning picks up new location. Also be careful with network locations, especially when using Mapped drives and UNC Paths (same files are seen as different due to differing Paths).

Thank you for your help. I disabled both (the second one already was disabled) but I still get an automatically analysis directly after the start of the software.
And again I get duplicate database entrys.

Nevertheless I ask me why I get duplicate database entrys. Does that make sense?

Disable Folder Monitoring (File > Add/Rescan Files) and Auto-Organize (Tools > Options > Auto-Organize). These tools are not meant for this type of setup.

Duplicate files

Again, again and again I have duplicate songs. I speak about duplicate database entrys. The same file in the same folder exists 2x or 3x in the database.
I use mediamonkey on two computers (desktop and tablet) and copy the database from one computer to the other. Then I update the locataion of the files with a script.
I think that in the "short" moment I need to update the location of the files mediamonkey already starts to analyse the folders and that is the reason why I always get duplicate database entrys.
It makes sense that I have the same file in different folders. I also have that for some reason.
But it realy does not make sense to have two or more entrys in the databae for exactly the same file in the same directory.

Why does the software make this useless thing?
What can I do to avoid that?
What can I do to solve that now whithout deleting each duplicate entry by hand? (I already did that several times)

Thanks for help.
Joe
