You're aware that the newer Shuffles do playlists using button controls?

Playlists synced worked with full playlist function on the 3rd gen Shuffle. The playlists were announced by the voiceover and songs played in the correct order. You probably need to add full support the 4th gen Shuffle for it to work again.

Re: 4th gen. Shuffle works partially!!

MM seems to recognize the 4th gen. Shuffle. I'll test it for certain and report back. Perhaps the spoken menus may not work yet, but if even the playlist function and/or music work, I'm good! I'll just restore and sync again when official support comes through.

Edit 1: Songs but not playlists registered in iTunes 10. I will test to see if I can at least play songs.

Edit 1.1: Just waiting on it to charge a little more before using it, I don't want to shorten battery life. It says to wait 3 hours the first time. :(

Edit 2: Only general music playback in alphabetical order works, and probably shuffle mode. "Copy playlists" is disabled in MM, I noticed a bit later, so that's why playlists won't show up. The voice over will not go any further than "all songs". It seems to operate as a 2nd gen. Shuffle right now, but since it's only 2GB, I won't complain about no playlists.

My motto is, if it doesn't work on MM, no buying until it does, lol.

It's only Apple that's always incompatible. I've noticed almost any device that accepts mass storage or MTP will work, new or old.

I haven't upgraded from 4.0.2. But 4.1 is supposed to correct some problems on iPhone 3G.

Thanks! So according to the last post, it seems old devices work on 4.1(he said he had a 3rd gen touch), but we should wait before buying any of the just released ones?

try force closing iPod app (double tap home button to bring up task manager then press and hold ipod icon til it wobbles then press the red minus). then restart the ipod app.

if you're on 3G with no multitasking then restart the phone to totally kill iPod.

yes, we all know that but sadly we need iTunes to sync apps and backup/restore iphone/ipods/ipads. as such we still need to have it installed.

that, however, is not the purpose of this thread...!
Indeed.

BTW: Someone else from Bradford :)
