Hi Peke.

This is a shame because there is a lot of info that is common for a whole album, and therefore silly to have it in the columns and ugly to have two long album info lines.

But in any case - thanks will try out the new version. Cheers

100 months!

Would it really be that hard to add the option for some extra rows?

I know that. But clicking on the Summary column header sorts by the first item in the summary, e.g. Album Artist. I'm asking to also be able to sort on Album (from within the summary), without needing to add a separate Album column.

Clicking on any column will sort on it. Holding down the Ctrl key and clicking additional columns will allow you to sort on more than one column.

This isn't exactly about customization, but... it would be good if column corresponding to items in the summary were not displayed when in Art & Details view. I switch between Details and Art & Details views. In Details, I want Album Artist and Album; but those are shown in the Summary, and so I don't also want those columns when showing Art & Details. I like the Art & Details view because it can be so compact without those columns, but I have to manually re-show them when switching views.

Also, right-click on a field in Summary and get a "Sort By" option.

And right-click on the art and get Play Now/Next/Last options, instead of having to right-click the art to select and then move over to right-click the selection.

Yes, we definitely need multiple lines for the Summary column! It would be absolutely perfect then.

+1 for the multi-target links in Summary. Being able to add stuff there like <year>, <album artist>, <genre> or whatever works best for, and all those being links to the appropriate node in one's library (note that some of these values may be ';' separated multiple values) - that would make for a nice addition to MM

+1

I had a very slow learning curve with the new summary,( at the beginning i even complained because it changed my default sorting ;))
but after undertanding how it works, I think MM summary is a powerful toll deserving some improvement to be even better.

I' d love to mark the text as italic, bold, or big as well as inserting a <Return> symbol.

I'd like, too, to have the option to move the summary under the cover.

Totally agree that multiple lines would make Art+Details perfect. I switched to MM4 from WMP10/11, and while it's a better experience in almost every way, I miss the Art+Details equivalent view of WMP (its default view setting) which listed Album, Artist, Genre and Year all on separate lines (beside the Album cover art). Each of the fields were hyperlinked, which made browsing the entire library a breeze. If such a feature can be added to MM4, it would be perfect! :)

There really should be a way to do this! It makes perfect sense from a space-saving perspective, and seeing as the text can flow onto two lines, it should be possible.

I enquired about this with MM3; I think it's a great feature that's half way there, when multiple lines are possible, Art+details will be nearly perfect. It will be perfect when you can put text, eg Artist - Album, directly above the artwork, or bring the artwork vertically in line with the Summary... :D

I was hoping to accomplish a similar thing.

The rational behind this is that those values are the same for all the tracks of an album, so it makes better use of space to have them placed there instead of multiple columns containing the same values for all rows.

Please consider adding this as a feature, i.e. adding one or two more lines to customize or supporting some kind of line-break character.

Edit: I ended up using the following values for Art View in Playback Rules:

Code: Select all

$if(<Album>,<Album Artist>,<Artist>)
$if(<Album>,$if(<Year>,[<Year>],[????]) <Album>,$if($viewmode=3,$if($groupcount=1,<Title>)))
This has the nice(?) feature that sorting by summary now sorts by artist and then by year, i.e. all the albums from the same artist are listed one after the other, ordered by their release date.

I doubt it.

Thank you for replying.

I was made aware of that area to make changes, however there are only two available lines to edit. I am looking to add a new line that contains genre and date, not add it to one of the two lines already there. Is there a line break character I can add somewhere?

Tools > Options > Playback Rules, the Art View box allows you to change it.
