I received my Amazon Echo Auto yesterday - and set it up this morning.
As soon as the device connected to my phone - Media Monkey showed a notification "Preparing for background process".
The Alexa app also showed a notification icon but without an explanation.
Neither would output through my bluetooth connected stereo.
(Yes, the Echo Auto is supposed to do that - ie piggyback on the phone's bluetooth connection instead of having its own)
I am NOT suggesting that this is your problem, the Echo Auto is still in beta - but it would be to your advantage, imho, to investigate quickly before they reach full release.
