To add to this, supposing you have a playlist '100 Random favorites' and that it is on the sync list, and that sync (or wi-fi sync) is configured to 'delete tracks not on the sync list'; In this case, each time you sync, MMW will reset the '100 Random favorites' list with 100 new random favorites, sync will cause the old ones to get deleted, and the new 100 favorites will be resynced.
This is by design, though it might not be obvious. It's quite useful though, as it allows you to automatically replenish your portable music collection on a regular basis without thinking about it by e.g. creating playlists such as '300 tracks rated 4-stars+ that haven't been played in the last 3 weeks sorted randomly'.
