You know, I suppose I was only using wifi sync. After I posted this I tried it over USB and now my playlists are complete. So I guess if I have a problem I can just plug it in? I'm using the latest version of MMA and MMW, and checked to make sure there were no updates. But yeah, USB sync seemed to take care of it.

Not all tracks syncing?

by Toad64 » Wed Feb 19, 2020 8:25 am

Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me a hand. Lately when I sync my PC to my Android phone, it will say sync is complete, but not all the tracks are there. I followed the advice I found on this topic in another post here,
https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 21&t=95016
which recommends making any change to the playlist on your PC, like simply moving a track's place on the playlist, then re-sync. The weird part it, that works, but only for a moment; the playlist on my phone will now say 3455 tracks, but then about a minute later, it will go right back to the incorrect number, 3425! It's such a weird thing to have happen that I just don't know what else to do about it!

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

interesting. i did switch to a bigger SD card a while back so that sounds like it could be the problem. I will give it a try.

I've been using MMA for a while now, syncing between the phone's SD card (128GB) the windows app (v4.1.24.1883) over wifi. Some time ago, songs started disappearing from the playlists synced via wifi to the SD card on my phone. The playlists are complete in the windows app, but many are totally empty, or have only 2 or 3 tracks (out of 15 to 20) on my phone. The odd thing is that there is a simple but labor-intensive fix: if I make any edits to one of the faulty playlists in windows (add a track, change the song order, etc), the next sync will repopulate all the missing songs from that playlist on my phone (even the songs I haven't touched). But the problem eventually reoccurs. I am not sure what triggers it. There seems to be no rhyme or reason (at least that I can discern) about which tracks and playlists are affected. I now work around it by periodically adding a dummy track to my library, adding it to all the faulty playlists, syncing, and then deleting the dummy track from my library. But that's really a pain with dozens of playlists and it also doesn't fix the most annoying aspect of the problem, which is wanting to listen to a playlist and discovering it is missing 90% of its content.

Bottom line: it seems that MMA thinks that a playlist is in sync, when it actually is missing tracks. Once you force it to redo the sync by making edits to the playlist, it puts all the songs back into sync.

I've tried checking and dechecking the various options for playlists in the device sync menu, to no avail, although I probably have not tried every possible permutation of options. Anyone else experience this issue? Any troubleshooting suggestions?
Alright. I've found what may be part of your problem. Earlier this morning, I was checking on these missing songs. I know you don't have any grayed out songs but I did a comparison between the file properties (inside MMA) for the song and discovered that MMA still had references to my old card. So, I cleared all the data for MMA via app settings then restarted the program and also removed access to the old card folders. That seems to have cleared up the problem. Try resetting the app. As long as everything is stored on the SD card you shouldn't have much trouble once you refresh/sync.

When having these issues make sure you're on the latest for both MMA and MMW and then capture them in a debug log. For wifi From About in MMA and then respond here with logID or add that to a Support Ticket and for UBS: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... ?f=21&t=69

Strangely enough that's how my situation started out, after I synced all of my songs to the device. I'm not sure how but the playlists eventually showed up with songs in them....just grayed out. This didn't happen when I only synced songs that were in a playlist. Once I started syncing my whole library is when I had these problems.

I have a similar problem. I have a Samsung Galaxy A6 (SM-A600FN/DS) + 256GB microSD. I ran into syncing issues, partially due to incorrect format of the card (should have been exFAT instead of FAT) as well as WIFI syncing being iffy. I'm on the beta release, MMA 1.3.5.0863. MMW 4.1.25.1888. My issue occurred once I tried syncing ALL of my 13K+ songs to my phone.

I was able to sync all of the songs. I pulled the card out and synced via card reader because the wifi transfer was terribly slow. I couldn't deal with that. WIthin an hour I was able to sync all 66GB of music. However, now I'm in your predicament. Although the playlists sync and songs appear in them...all of the songs are grayed out. I've tried deleting the playlists. Changing options for playlist syncing. Nothing seems to work yet.
