Platform : Windows 7 64-bit v1.5.00.AD B06 Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 8G memory 1 HD (C:/)
MediaMonkey : 4.1.5.1719 Standard Edition (Unregistered) new install, no add-ons or plug-ins
MediaTomb UPnP Server : mediatomb-0.12.1-1.el6.rf.x86_64 running on CentOS 2.6.32-504.1.3.el6.centos.plus.x86_64
Problem Description
===================
The goal is to be able to play video files from a local upnp server on a Windows Laptop. MediaMonkey (MM) is able to connect to MediaTomb just fine and navigate to the video files without issues. However, trying to play a file fails. Is this expected operation or an error?
These are the steps taken
-Start MM
-Expand Media Servers
-Expand MediaTomb
-Navigate down to a folder that contains content to play
-Select an item
-Click PlayNow from the menu bar. This causes the Title value for all the files shown, not just the selected one to be changed to "Root" and length, plays, etc. get set to 0.
There is no error log produced as far as I can determine.
Running DbgView produces these two lines when MM is started:
00000009 30.57386780 [2764] ASL checking for logging parameters in environment variable "MediaMonkey.exe.log"
00000010 30.57412720 [2764] ASL checking for logging parameters in environment variable "asl.log"
Then the following lines the first time a attempt to play a file is done and nothing for subsequent attempts.
00000042 112.21665192 [8808] SNACNP::NPGetCaps::WNNC_NET_TYPE
00000043 112.21670532 [8808] SNACNP::NPGetCaps::WNNC_USER
00000044 112.21674347 [8808] SNACNP::NPGetCaps::WNNC_CONNECTION
00000045 112.21678162 [8808] SNACNP::NPGetCaps::WNNC_ENUMERATION
00000046 112.21681976 [8808] SNACNP::NPGetCaps::WNNC_ADMIN
00000047 112.21733856 [8808] SNACNP::NPGetCaps::WNNC_DIALOG
00000048 112.22206879 [8808] SNACNP::NPGetCaps::WNNC_START
If I enable the setting "Use default eternal video player" then when I try to play a file MM opens Windows Explorer.
Added notes:
I did get a chance to try playing via upnp from a server running some version of Serviio. In that case MM seems to be able to play .avi video files but not .mkv files. During the small test I did at that time there was no diagnostic information collected.
